Getting Tested
Take the first step with convenient, confidential home testing
Regular STI testing is an important part of looking after your sexual health. Many STIs have no symptoms, so testing is the only way to know your status. Home test kits offer a private, convenient alternative to visiting a clinic. All kits available through UK-regulated pharmacies use laboratory-validated testing methods and provide reliable, confidential results.
Who Should Get Tested
The NHS recommends testing after every new sexual partner, if you have had unprotected sex, or if a partner has tested positive for an STI. Regular testing is advisable for anyone who is sexually active.
Window Periods
Each STI has a window period — the time between potential exposure and when the test can reliably detect infection. For example, chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests are accurate from 2 weeks after exposure, while HIV tests may require up to 12 weeks for a conclusive result.
Complete Confidentiality
Home test kits are delivered in discreet, unmarked packaging. Results are shared securely and will not appear on your NHS record unless you choose to share them with your GP.
