The short version

MedsLens compares published medication prices. We do not need to know who you are to do that, and we have built it so that mostly we don't.

In the mobile app, everything about your treatment — your dose, your weigh-ins, side effects, what you have spent, and what you are watching — is stored only on your phone. It is never uploaded to us, never shared with the pharmacies we list, and never sent to the assistant.

Who we are

MedsLens (medslens.co.uk) is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question, or to have your data deleted, contact privacy@medslens.co.uk.

What the website collects

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track individuals across sites or build profiles. It tells us how many people visited a page, not who they were.

When you click through to a pharmacy

If you follow a link from MedsLens to a pharmacy, we record which pharmacy, which dose, the page you came from, your browser's user-agent string and your IP address. We use this to understand which comparisons are useful and to detect automated abuse.

An IP address is personal data under UK GDPR. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — understanding how the service is used and protecting it from abuse. You can object to this at any time using the contact address above.

Price alerts by email

If you ask for price alerts on the website we store your email address, the medication and dose you asked about, and whether you have confirmed the subscription. We use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you confirm. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes the subscription.

The assistant

Questions you type to the assistant are sent to our server and on to Amazon Bedrock, which generates the answer. We do not store your questions and we do not use them to train anything. Please do not type personal health details into it — it cannot give personalised advice, so they would serve no purpose.

What the app collects

The MedsLens iOS app stores the following on your device only, using your phone's local storage:

  • Your treatment plan — medication, current dose, when you started it, and your injection day
  • Your journey — starting weight, goal, height and each weigh-in you log
  • Side effects you log, and how severe you rated them
  • Purchases you record
  • Which treatments you have asked us to watch for price drops
  • Your notification preferences

None of this is transmitted to us. Price-drop checking happens on your phone: the app fetches public prices and compares them locally, so our servers are never told what you are watching.

The app requests prices and news from our API. Those requests carry no information about you beyond what any web request carries. You can export everything the app holds, or delete all of it, from Settings. Deleting the app also removes it.

Special category data

Information about your health is special category data under UK GDPR Article 9. The health information in the app — your treatment, weight and side effects — is processed solely on your own device, at your request, and is never transmitted to us. Where you give us an email address for alerts about a named medication, we rely on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

How long we keep things

  • Click records: 24 months, then deleted
  • Email alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them
  • Analytics: aggregate only, with no individual record to retain
  • App data: on your device, for as long as you keep it there

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with the pharmacies we list. We use a small number of processors to run the service: Amazon Web Services (hosting, in the UK region), Plausible (analytics, EU-hosted), and an email delivery provider for alerts.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it. Write to privacy@medslens.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and its date. Material changes affecting email subscribers will be sent to them directly.
